While in Atlanta our friend took us to a hotel brunch at Saltwood in the Lowes Hotel. At first honestly didn’t think this family brunch in Atlanta sounded like much more than a “hotel brunch” but I was WRONG! To start the decor was so beautiful! It had a modern farmhouse feel. And the staff were super sweet and attentive even though it was buffet style!
They have a fresh omelet bar with a wide variety of toppings for a perfect family brunch in Atlanta. They were light, fluffy and the woman making them was fast and friendly, which is helpful when you are trying to plate up extra plates for littles.
Oatmeal and other options
They had mini cereal boxes (which we may or may not have snagged an extra one to feed Isaac later 🙊😂), oatmeal, sausages, fresh bacon and grits! I was shocked that I actually enjoyed grits, I don’t know what it was but these grits were so creamy and delicious. Unfortunately, I did not get a photo of one of the most amazing things they had to offer, pancakes! These food wizards made the most amazing pancakes! In fact my friend who invited us to Atlanta and lives close comes to Saltwood specifically for the pancakes!
Our kiddos loved this brunch and it was perfect brunch to tide us over till we had lunch. They also had big family tables which was perfect to spread out and feel like everyone had enough room.
Seriously this place has the World’s best gluten-free Pizza! It is several weeks since we have been to Atlanta and the images from this pizza place have me checking the Frontier app for cheap flights! YOU MUST check out Atwoods Pizza when you go to Atlanta!
Fun Family Friendly atmosphere
I don’t know about you but we have a “little” right now so we try to go places where it is ok if he makes a mess. He doesn’t quite understand when we tell him to NOT throw his food on the floor. SOOOO I usually offer to sweep it up and leave a GOOD tip, at least 20% or more depending on how messy he was!
WORLD’S BEST GLUTEN-FREE PIZZA, and many other amazing options!
As in sooooo good I went and asked the guy working that day if it was in fact gluten-free. If you are a gluten-free mama with gluten-free kids you know gluten-free “bread” options are usually dry and tasteless or undercooked because it would take FOREVER to cook the crust :(. This was PERFECT! The Atwoods Pizza Café menu focuses on cooked-to-order Neapolitan-inspired pizzas, as well as soup, salads, and sandwiches. Their pies are baked in an Italian Pavesi Oven with a rotating floor that provides uniform heat distribution to deliver a perfectly cooked pizza every time.
Honey and Pepperoni pizza… odd combo BUT AMAZING!
My husband and friend ordered a regular pizza and got pepperoni with honey on it. When he told me about it I thought it sounded a little gross to be honest but he insisted I had to try it. And it was so DELICIOUS!
You HAVE to check out this place… it is what pizza dreams are made of!
I got to talking with the manager and he was telling me a little about their business and where they get their gluten-free crust. So next time you take a trip to Atlanta it is totally worth making the effort to go to Atwoods Pizza!
Our friend Lucy Laramie (she flew us out to hang out and also take photos of her for her website and marketing materials) that we were staying with watched our kiddos so we could go out on a date night in Atlanta. We decided to rent Relay bikes to bike to the Parish: Brasserie. We took some wrong turns, basically I didn’t have an updated phone with bike route directions which would have SAVED US, BUT that is ok we still had fun and ended up having a lot of fun!
See some of the silliness from that night in our Youtube video!
Once we got there we were hot and sweaty and THIRSTY so we ordered a BIG glass of lemonade and it HIT THE SPOT!!
SO I didn’t realize what GRILLED ARTICHOKE was after all… HA HA HA
Once they brought the grilled artichoke to the table I just started trying to eat it and my husband starts laughing at me because I was eating it wrong. It is usually the other way around! But the key is to “scrape off” the part closest to the “heart of it” and I recommend dipping it in the dip they provided! Verdict? It was ok, but not really worth the work. Order the hand-cut fries with Korean chili aioliinstead, we ended up ordering them as well! But hey it makes for a pretty photo right!?
Our date night in Atlanta dinner was delicious!
For dinner, we both had chicken and dumplings with ricotta, Vidalia onion, baby carrots and jus. I wanted to lick the plate it was so good! I highly recommend this dish! And the atmosphere is AMAZING, and the wait staff was very attentive!
It ended with a CRACK!
We LOVE creme brulee! It is kind of our “thing” so whenever it is on a menu we HAVE to order it. Mainly because when we were dating I was obsessed with the movie Amelie.
Anyone else see it? She talks about the joy of cracking the creme brulee. And this one was AMAZING! It is their Nutella Creme Brulee with almond tuille it was a beautiful end to our date night in Atlanta!
That coffee was pretty darn good too! We were tempted to steal these coffee cups, they fit your hand PERFECTLY! We even offered to buy them but the restaurant said they were running low : ( …. at some point I am going to order some from Amazon!
Ain’t nobody got time for that!
So we decided to NOT bike back home as it was about 9;30-10pm AND her house was only about a 15 min. drive! So Daniel downloaded the Uber app and caught our first Uber ride. We talked with the lady on our way back she was super sweet.
And then I felt this little pull from God to ask her if she needed prayer for anything. She said that she and her husband have been trying to have a baby for a while now. So we prayed for her right then and there. It was a beautiful end to our date night in Atlanta!
Then we were trying to figure out how to send her a tip. It finally popped up and we gave her a tip that was equal to the fare in hopes that it would also help to brighten her night a little. Whenever she pops into my mind I still pray for her.
I was SOOOO glad we didn’t try to ride bikes back to our friend’s house in the dark and we were able to grab an Uber ride!
